This summer, Silverstone Circuit roared to life not with Formula 1 engines, but with the passion and grit of the next generation of engineers.
Formula Student 2025, the world-renowned educational engineering competition, took place on 19–20 July, with more than 40 university teams from around the globe rising to the challenge of designing, building, and racing a single-seat car.
This year, ProGARM played a vital role in protecting the event’s safety officials. We were proud to support the teams by providing free PPE for up to 10 trackside safety personnel, all of whom were required to wear Arc Flash-rated garments throughout the competition.
Nick Lane, CEO of Avonside Safety Management, said:
“I was delighted to have ProGARM on board for this fantastic event. We’ve worked with them for some time now, and the quality of their products really stands out.
“We’ve had excellent feedback from our customers, and the kit is well used at our training centre in the Midlands. Events like this are a great opportunity to spread the word and raise awareness of what ProGARM has to offer.”
Hosted by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Formula Student tests far more than just speed. Teams compete in static events such as design analysis and business case presentations, as well as dynamic challenges including acceleration, autocross, and endurance.
With vehicle classes ranging from internal combustion to electric and autonomous, the competition mirrors the complexity and demands of real-world automotive engineering.
Arc Flash PPE was mandatory for all trackside safety roles, and we worked closely with Formula Student advisors in the lead-up to the event to ensure our garments met every requirement.
“Formula Student represents everything we believe in – innovation, safety, and investing in the future,” said Dan Cooper, National Key Account Manager at ProGARM.
“We were thrilled to be part of an event that not only showcased engineering talent but also prioritised safety as a key component of professional performance.”
