Danger of Non-FR Embroidered Badges on Garments

An industrial worker was undertaking Hotworks above head height when welding splatter lodged against the large embroidered badge (of the manufacturers brand) on the arm of his welding coverall. The splatter set light to the badge which was consequently inspected and found not to be manufactured using flame resistant threads. This could have resulted in a serious burn for the wearer hence the garment was returned to the supplier for inspection.

ProGARM use a Flame Resistant Transfer on the arm of each garment which clearly identifies the EN standards to which it conforms using a simple colour code system and letters as follows:

FR – Flame Resistant – RED

AS – Antistatic – ROYAL BLUE

HV – Hi-Vizibility – ORANGE

EA – Electric Arc – LIGHT BLUE

This is another example of the attention to detail in every ProGARM garment to ensure that the safety of the wearer is considered when designing garments.
